There's something special about coming home to a room that smells exactly the way you love it. A good reed diffuser does that quietly, day after day. But when it finally runs dry, there's no need to buy a whole new one.
A reed diffuser refill lets you keep your favourite fragrance going for a fraction of the cost, with less glass, less packaging and less waste. It's the simplest way to make your home fragrance a little kinder to the planet, without giving up any of the luxury.
Refills have always been part of how we do things at Marsden & Whittle. We launched our largest refill yet, the 500ml, on World Earth Day this April, for anyone who never wants to run out of their favourite scent.
What is a reed diffuser refill?
A reed diffuser refill is a bottle of diffuser fragrance designed to top up the diffuser you already own. Instead of buying a new glass bottle, reeds and packaging every time, you simply clean your existing bottle, pour in the refill and add a fresh set of reeds.
Our diffuser fragrances contain no alcohol and no water, so the scent is carried steadily into the room rather than evaporating away.
We also use fibre reeds rather than traditional rattan. Each fibre reed has around 40,000 tiny capillaries, compared with roughly 40 to 80 in a rattan reed, so they draw fragrance up continuously and there's no need to flip them. Find out more about our diffusers.

100ml reed diffuser refill: £16
Our 100ml refill is the perfect top-up for your Marsden & Whittle reed diffuser. Each bottle comes with a fresh set of four fibre reeds and a small funnel for easy, mess-free pouring. A 100ml refill typically lasts at least 12 weeks, which works out at just 19p a day to fragrance your home.
500ml reed diffuser refill: £50
Our 500ml refill is our biggest and most sustainable option. It holds enough fragrance to refill a 100ml diffuser five times, giving you up to 60 weeks of scent from a single bottle for as little as 12p a day. It's supplied without reeds or a funnel, so simply use the funnel from a previous 100ml refill and keep a spare set of reeds to hand.
Both sizes come in clear, fully recyclable PET bottles, and all our fragrances are paraben free.

How to refill your reed diffuser
Refilling takes just a couple of minutes.
- Clean the bottle. Rinse your empty diffuser bottle with warm water and leave it to dry completely before refilling.
- Use the funnel. Place the funnel from your 100ml refill in the neck of the bottle to avoid spills.
- Pour in the refill. Fill to the same level as your original diffuser.
- Check your reeds. Every 100ml refill comes with a fresh set of four fibre reeds. If your current reeds are still carrying the fragrance well, keep using them and save the new set as a spare. Swap them over when they look dusty or the scent starts to fade.
- Position and enjoy. Place your diffuser in your chosen spot and let the reeds draw up the fragrance. With fibre reeds, there's no need to flip them.
Your reeds will usually last more than one refill. When they start to look dusty or the scent feels weaker, simply swap in your spare set.
Why refills are better for your home and the planet
Every time you refill rather than replace, you make a small but genuine difference.
- Less glass. Glass takes a lot of energy to produce and transport. Reusing the bottle you already have reduces the demand for new glass.
- Less packaging. A refill uses far less packaging than a full diffuser, so less ends up in landfill.
